Gegründet im 19. Jahrhundert, als die Dombes noch ziemlich sumpfig war, trug die Abtei durch die Arbeit ihrer Mönche dazu bei, die Landschaft zu verändern und diese Region des Ain zu sanieren. Es waren Zisterzienser aus der Gemeinde Aiguebelle in der Drôme, die sich dann niederließen und das ihnen anvertraute Land rodeten, entwässerten und entwickelten. Diese landwirtschaftliche Arbeit dauert auch heute noch an, während die Gemeinschaft des Neunten Weges jetzt in den ehrwürdigen Mauern angesiedelt ist. Die Produktion von Milch und Käse, Rindfleisch, Honig und Äpfeln, die Arbeit der Menschen wertet weiterhin den lokalen Reichtum. Und die Besucher werden es in der Boutique genießen! Fondata nel XIX secolo, quando la Dombes era ancora piuttosto paludosa, per opera dei suoi monaci, l'abbazia ha contribuito a modificare il paesaggio e a risanare questa regione dell'Ain. Sono cistercensi, provenienti dalla comunità di Aiguebelle nella Drôme, che si sono allora stabiliti e hanno dissodato, prosciugato, sviluppato le terre che erano state loro affidate.

Az apátságot a XIX. században alapították a Drôme megye Aiguebelle közösségből származó ciszterciták. Dombes akkoriban még meglehetősen mocsaras volt, a szerzetesek munkájuk révén hozzájárultak a táj megváltoztatásához és az Ain itteni részének egészségesebbé tételéhez. Az apátság szerzetesei megtisztították, lecsapolták és megművelték a rájuk bízott földeket. Az általuk megkezdett mezőgazdasági munka a mai napig folytatódik: a szerzetesek után a Chemin Neuf Közösség költözött be a tiszteletreméltó falak közé. Tejet és sajtot, marhahúst valamint mézet és almát termelnek itt. Az emberek munkája továbbra is a lehető legtöbbet hozza ki a hely gazdagságából. Fundada en el siglo XIX, cuando la Dombes era todavía bastante pantanosa, la abadía por el trabajo de sus monjes contribuyó a modificar el paisaje y sanear esta región del Ain. Fueron los cistercienses, procedentes de la comunidad de Aiguebelle en la Drôme, los que se instalaron y desbrozaron, secaron y desarrollaron las tierras que les habían sido confiadas.
