Well known for his Treks dances conducted around the world, the nomadic artist Robin Decourcy invites you to dive into the heart of the Spectacle du Réel. This show during which the viewer is watched, has the primary objective of creating an audience, more than a show and where the artist invites the participants to apprehend the landscape in a sensory way, crossed by a messenger fauna, a perceptive flora. The exhibition is a powerful testimony to this.
Echoing the work of walking artist Hamish Fulton, Bienvenue là-haut and the Frac invited performer and choreographer Robin Decourcy for a several-week residency in Queyras, located in the high mountains of the northern Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The artist gathered a group of inhabitants to propose, from the bleachers – furniture usually used during shows, sporting events, concerts – to work on new points of view on the landscape in different sites of the territory. This protocol therefore proposes to look at the world as the incredible spectacle it is. Infinitely complex, composed of sound hazards or narrative predestinations, or earthlings surrounded by enigmatic constructions, supported by an interconnected biomass. The Spectacle du Réel becomes a way of life, rendered to a daily and geopathic poetry (which calls into play the notion of public or spectator).
Stemming from this experience, the attitudes and emotions captured by the artist constitute the material of a second archival work presented in the exhibition, and of setting in space in the form of a scenographic device thought for the emblematic place of the city Vauban. The Arsenal of Mont-Dauphin is a heritage site dating from the 18th century, managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux which offers exhibitions related to the history of the site. The partnership with the FRAC makes it possible to temporarily install the work of a contemporary artist.
