À propos du lieu

Villa Port Magaud
1739 avenue du commandant Houot 83130 La Garde
  • Var
  • Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
Villa Port Magaud was built between 1905 and 1909 by a great French diplomat, Ernest Bourgarel, on a family plot that belonged until the middle of the nineteenth S. to the fisherman Barthélémy Magaud. His descendants, the Dubail family, are now in charge. Designed in the purest neoclassical style by the architects Monestel and Roustan, this villa is nevertheless very innovative in its construction and the bioclimatic techniques it uses. It overlooks a garden that descends to the Magaud cove and which mixes Mediterranean vegetation and imported species. This park, now «free» has been the subject of a fauna-flora inventory by scientists of the Port Cros National Park. Listed as a Historic Monument since 2019, the Villa and its garden must face rehabilitation work.
