The architecture and decoration of the Chapel of Our Lady of Jerusalem was designed by Jean Cocteau the year of his death in 1963. Most of the iconography on the site illustrates the themes of the Passion and Resurrection of Christ. Nevertheless, Jean Cocteau has integrated a sometimes hermetic symbolism that makes Notre-Dame-de-Jeruse a work of complex interpretation. Although completed after the poet’s death, the aesthetics and message of the building remain faithful to the graphic style and approach of the artist.
