The chapel dates from the end of the 12th century and the very beginning of the 13th century. It was part of a castle belonging to the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem. It was later used as a meeting place or explosives depot.
The site on which the chapel is located is a site classified by order of 30 July 1937\. The Saint-Sauveur chapel is listed as a historical monument by order of April 29, 1993.
