Urban walking notebook "Carnoux-en-Provence"
The urban walking diaries guide you through the architecture and urbanism of the cities of the department of Bouches-du-Rhône.
The notebook "Carnoux-en-Provence" tells you the emergence of a city.
In Carnoux-en-Provence, you will not find cobbled streets, medieval houses or Romanesque churches. This city is not like the others, it was built in the 1960s.
But why build a new city in Provence? And above all... for whom?
Discover this titanic project! Building a new city on a territory between Marseille and Cassis is not easy… Sharpen your eyes to better understand the architecture and composition of the city.
This young city is full of stories of its inhabitants: French repatriated from Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria came to Carnoux-en-Provence for a new start. This notebook offers a walk in the city center of Carnoux and a way back to the pine forest south of the city.
