Château de Bazouges sur le Loir
39 Rue du Château - Bazouges sur le Loir
Sign of the insecurity of the times or the honorary claims of its owner, chamberlain of Louis XII, the castle of Bazouges receives in 1485 the royal authorization of a new fortification (ditches and drawbridge) that concretizes the castle still visible. In XVII° and XVIII°, and then in XIX°, several housing units join it, enshrining the former castle of XI°. There are several elements that attract attention: the castle with two towers and machicolations, characteristic of the massive military architecture of the end XV° and its late Gothic decoration; a French garden at the rear of the castle; and, within the walls, the presence of a mill, preserved with its rod and its wooden transmissions, which recalls the economic dimension of the castles.
