Free visit of the church of Saint-Pierre de Melay
Free visit of the Saint-Pierre church from 10am to 6pm Burnt to the revolution and bought by the parishioners, it was partially restored with the ruins of Saint Léonard. From 1802, a bell tower is raised with its 3 arrows; It is in 1836 that the teacher architect François Humeau makes the new plans of the bell tower and the nave. In 1868, the nave was cut down and he rebuilt it in Gothic style with Romanesque openings while waiting to redo the bell tower but the 1836 one still seems solid then one keeps it. Particularity: it does not touch the nave. After the storm of 1900, it is restored again. Inside, you can see capitals with various shapes, stained glass offered by the Béraudière family, altars and also statues from Chemillé… etc. The whole is restored in the 60s.
