On the occasion of the 2023 edition of the European Heritage Days, the Hotel Préfectoral de la Mayenne and the Conseil Départemental de la Mayenne will open their doors on Sunday, September 17 from 10:00 to 18:00 and offer the public a joint visit. It will begin at the prefectural hotel, place Jean Moulin in Laval and will continue within the Hotel du Département.
Guided by staff of the prefecture, visitors can discover the building and its history: they will access the courtyard of the prefectural hotel, the garden, the hall of honor or the office and residence of the prefect, usually closed to the public. In a meeting and reception room – the Mayenne room – they will also be able to browse the exhibition «Jean MOULIN et les préfets résistants de la Mayenne» installed for the event. Marie-Aimée GASPARI, prefect of Mayenne, and members of the prefectural body – sub-prefect of borough, secretary general, director of cabinet – will present to visitors their role and missions in the department. The young public is welcome on the occasion of this day (game booklet, quiz, educational animation on bees that hive in the gardens of the prefecture). On the occasion of the 40th edition of the European Heritage Days whose theme is living heritage, the prefect will plant an olive tree in the gardens of the prefecture
In the Hotel du Département, visitors can then discover the session room, in which they will be welcomed by elected officials who will present their role and the missions of the Department. They will then be able to discover an exhibition of artists from Mayenne (LEB, Robert LERIVRAIN, Gilles CUERRIER, etc.), including Robert TATIN, in tribute to Alfred JARRY, a writer from Laval whose 150 years of birth we celebrate in 2023. The visit of the hotel of the Department will end with the office of the President, Olivier RICHEFOU.

• Groups of 20 to 30 people maximum;
• First visit at 10:00 am, last visit at 5:30 pm (departure every 20 to 30 minutes);
• Visitors must have proof of identity.
