Visit of the village mill

A tributary of the Mayenne, the Ernée shaped the landscape and life of the Chaillandais. The steep and winding valley of the river offers the inhabitants its riches and has allowed the development of craft and industrial activities. On Sunday 17 September from 14:00 to 18:00 in Chailland, the village mill will open its doors. With three pairs of wheat wheels, the mill was still in operation in 1896. Beside, witness of the daily life of the Chaillandaises, the wash house was a very lively place, where they met to wash the laundry and exchange the latest news of the country. Built in the nineteenth century, the communal washhouse of the mill had a mobile floor,
