Where do we find traces of Gaulish farms in the Nantes metropolis? How did the city of Nantes transform itself in the Middle Ages? How have funeral practices evolved over the centuries? As many questions as It happened near you, 10 years of archaeology in the metropolis answers with an unprecedented journey in time and space of the 24 communes of the metropolis Nantes. Through a selection of 13 excavations and archaeological operations carried out on the territory, the exhibition explores the historical richness of the sub-soil and is interested in how archaeology actors collectively construct this knowledge of the territory. From flint to toothbrush and Gaulish buckets, many objects discovered during the excavations are on display and reveal all the diversity of these archaeological remains. Playful and interactive, It happened near you immerses in the daily life of archaeologists and highlights their work and that of the specialists asked for the analysis of the remains.
