Once, today, tomorrow... Traces of a popular memory, video installation: In 1979, the «Maison de l'image et du son» of the Chartreuse realized a series of videograms on the «old» of the department of Gard. Captivating testimonies, ranging from Alès to Saint-Siffret, from Saint-Gilles to Lézan or Sumène, where they evoke their youth, their life, and the territory between the two wars. These interviews and recordings, rich in truculence and emotions, today constitute an exceptional heritage on the practices and know-how of a bygone era of the Gard territory, while remaining close to our time. This installation presents a selection of excerpts from these films and borrows the original title of this precious collection of videograms.
