The CAUE 87 invites you to participate in a guided tour to discover the convent of the Poor Clares, located near the cathedral of Limoges. The chapel has undergone a total restoration that aims to convert it into a place open to the public, offering a reception area and an exhibition room. This initiative will give a new dimension to this remarkable building, by connecting it more with the inhabitants of Limoges. Part of the space will be dedicated to welcoming students, while a multipurpose room will be available for conferences, exhibitions or other activities.
The architect Véronique Scelles was appointed by the diocese to lead the work of transformation of the place. She will honour us with her presence during this visit.
A convivial moment with a glass of friendship will also be offered to the participants.

The cloister and church that extended the buildings to the west have now disappeared. The present church dates from 1830\. The south wing is added in the 19th century, in harmony with the existing one. Apart from the outbuildings, which hosted a kindergarten until 1901, the complex remained a hospital until the middle of the 20th century. Since 1974, the buildings have housed the Louis Aragon socio-cultural centre, which includes the library, the cultural centre, the treasury and the medico-social centre of Montignac.
