On August 3, 1908, in the small village of La Chapelle-aux-Saints, the first nearly complete skeleton of a Neanderthal man was discovered, as well as his burial. This discovery is a world-famous reference.

Chapelle-aux-Saints is a major discovery for the study of the man de Néandertal, world-famous and which lives(remains) a historic, archaeological and anthropological reference. To explain this discovery, a communal museum managed by the association Chapelle-aux-Saints Archéologie Heritage (CASAP), is done up next to the city council and pursues its action(share) of promotion(valuation) of heritage by developing a demanding and innovative programme. Next to the city council the archaeological site of Bouffia Bonneval is where was discovered the first burial known for Néandertal.
