À propos du lieu

Domaine de Bort
Bort, 87480 Saint-Priest-Taurion
  • Haute-Vienne
  • Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The Domaine de Bort, in the heart of Haute-Vienne, is located not far from Limoges. It dates back to at least the fifteenth century and enters the family of current owners in the eighteenth century. Damaged during the 1848 uprisings, the castle was completely renovated and modified in the middle of the 19th century by the owner Pierre-Edmond Teisserenc de Bort, a Polytechnic engineer. Modified again and extensively restored in the early 1960s, it features Gothic Revival architecture, and is listed as a Historic Monument, as well as all of the park’s buildings, as well as the park itself.
What makes the specificity of Bort is also its landscaped park, imagined and designed by the same Pierre-Edmond Teisserenc. He also took on the immense task of developing the vast lands surrounding the estate by modernizing agricultural techniques and planting forests. These practices were continued by his descendants, including his great-grandson Edmond de Sèze, who devoted his life to forestry. Today
