The castle of Faye which was the residence of the lords of Auriac from the 15th to the 18th century, was built from an old watchtower of the warning and defense system organized in the 13th century by Alphonse de Poitiers to protect the castle of Montignac from the English raids installed in Thenon. This «keep» was accosted in the fourteenth or fifteenth century of two massive towers that made the Faye, during the Hundred Years War, an important fortified house. The whole forms the south facade of the current castle.
