Throughout the weekend, the Sancte Solari troupe, composed of students and history buffs, will set up camp in the barbican of the Château de Bonaguil. On the program, workshops, demonstrations, and simply, scenes of medieval life.
Demonstrations weapons and combat: the company’s men-at-arms will present the «feudal» type of combat as it was practiced in the twelfth century in wartime. They will explain to the public the different weapons and their handling as well as small anecdotes about them. Fighters will clash in fierce battles.
Hygiene and cosmetics in the Middle Ages: discovery of the practices and beliefs of the body and health in the Middle Ages: dental and body hygiene, beauty criteria, various remedies and products used at the time. The Dame de Gloirac and her Dames de compagnie will be happy to take care of visitors during this event.
Feudal justice: murderer, rapist, counterfeiter or simple thief? Come and meet the justice of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. During this performance, spectators will discover the notions of low, medium and high justice, but also the punishments imposed according to the crimes. The Lord and his Lady, accompanied by their court, will be pleased to render justice and listen to grievances. This animation is done with the kind participation of the public.
Presentation of medieval equipment: the troop will show how to team a militiaman, a sergeant-at-arms or a knight. Some lucky ones can even try on pieces of equipment.
Chainmail workshop: the Sergeant-at-Arms will discover the making of a chainmail, real «metal fabric», from its Celtic origins to its modern use. It will show how to «braid» the mesh and spectators will be able to make their own chainmail.
The troupe will camp on site all weekend in medieval conditions. Visitors can attend the preparation of meals over a wood fire and visit the camp.
