Founded in 1876, the Borda Society owes its name to its two sponsors: Jacques-François de Borda d'Oro (1718-1804) a naturalist and Jean-Charles de Borda (1733-1799), a mathematician and navigator. Today, the Borda Society is faithful to its vocation: anchored in the terroir and open to the outside, it is the living memory of the Landes and brings together all those who are interested in the Landes and neighbouring countries. Hôtel Saint-Martin d'Agès is a 17th century mansion. On the first floor of the building, which became partly owned by the city, is since 1963, the seat of the Borda Society, whose origin dates from 1876\. The regional library is included in the Guide du Patrimoine des Bibliothèques de France.
