This year for the European Heritage Days of 16 and 17 September 2023, the Château de Pompadour and the sites of the national stud farm come alive all weekend with a completely free program.
You can enjoy the visit of the castle and its stables but also its frames and the clock that overlooks the terraces from the facade during the 2 days from 10am to 6pm, continuously.
Come and meet the figures who occupy the castle once the doors are closed. Exceptionally the friends of the Marquise will come to meet you on the afternoons of Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September.
The association Ô Fil de l'Ô will also be present to present the room reserved for the Cartusian Order.
You can also attend a guided tour of the Puy Marmont equestrian stadium and the Hippodrome on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 10am
The equestrian troupe Christophe and Max Hasta Luego will present their profession and their passion for equestrian arts on September 17, 2023 at 11:30 at the Manège de l'Orangerie.

The history(story) of the castle of Pompadour is closely linked to that of the stud farm in which it is installed(settled) for more than 250 years. Everything begins in the turning point(bend) of the 15th and 16th centuries when Geoffroy de Pompadour transforms a castrum medieval old(former) into a refined castle adorned with decorations(sets), influenced by the beginnings of the Renaissance style. Become the property of the king Louis XV in 1762, the latter(this last) instal(settles) a royal stud farm endowed with a jumenterie there. The castle is only partly destroyed in Revolution, and the stud farm, in turn imperial, royal and national stud farm crosses centuries. Racecourse, merry-go-round(riding school), careers(quarries) and stables are done up or transformed for the good of stud farms, establishing(constituting) a remarkable equestrian heritage today.
