The Musée de la Résistance presents about forty paintings by Guy de Montlaur (1918-1977), artist hired in 1942 in the brigade of marine rifles commandos under the command of Commander Kieffer. At the age of 25, he already had seven citations and the Legion of Honour. At the Liberation, he rediscovered his first passion: painting. His cubist period was from 1949 to 1953-1954. In 1954, the year of transition, his art evolves and is oriented more towards abstract expressionism to lead to the lyrical abstraction that allows him to transcribe his emotions. If painting is for Guy de Montlaur a way to express his feelings, poetry and music are always present and accompany him in his creations to the point of influencing the titles of his works.
Guy de Montlaur exhibited mainly in France during his lifetime. After his death, major exhibitions were dedicated to him in Los Angeles, New York, Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Perm etc.
