In the 14th, 18th and 19th centuries, the prioral and parish church underwent many changes. A remarkable Gothic chapel was built in the 14th century. From the twelfth century, a Benedictine priory, dependency of the Abbey of the Chair-Dieu, is attested in the city. However, the wars of Religion, then the Revolution, will overcome all the conventual buildings. In the fourteenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the adjoining church underwent many modifications.
The origin of the monastery is unknown. The Priory Church already existed in 1117, when the church and its memberships were given to the Abbey of the Chair-Dieu. The priory, which contained twelve religious, fell into decay in the fifteenth century due to mismanagement.
At the end of the sixteenth century, the religious of Saint-Maur re-established the monastic discipline and restored the church and the convent, ruined by the wars of Religion.
