Conference: «Results 2023 of the planned excavation of the East Quarter of the Roman agglomeration of Bridiers (La Souterraine)»
For the fourth consecutive year, archaeological excavations are being carried out in La Souterraine, in the Bridiers district. In this place are the remains of a Roman city dating from the beginning of our era. Over the years, archaeologists have uncovered the foundations of several buildings. The masonry walls are now well visible. Streets also appear, as well as two wells. On the site of Bridiers, many ceramics were also discovered. Again this year, the team uncovered some. In 2021, the discovery of small movable elements had also made it possible to establish the function of certain buildings: houses, a small forge, and a funeral monument in particular...
It is the continuation of these discoveries that will be presented by Florian Baret researcher at the UMR 7324 CISTERNS-LAT, Tours and responsible for the yard excavation school.
