In September 2023, we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the military coup in Chile.
On this occasion, four Chilean photographers (Marcelo Montecinos, Alejandro Hoppe, Claudio Pérez and Héctor Lopez), witnesses of this period, present a selection of their photographic works made between 1973 and 1990.
They engaged in a documentary approach by giving an artistic and profound dimension to this reality, each through different moments and perspectives. Photography played an essential role during the 17 years of the Chilean dictatorship, and the major role of photographers of this period was recognized.
They were mainly young people who saw photography as a way to denounce and engage. This exhibition is presented in collaboration with the France-Chile Aquitaine committee.
