FRAC MÉCA
5 parvis Corto Maltese, 33000 Bordeaux, France

With more than 1,200 works dating from 1929 to the present day, the collection of the Frac Aquitaine has been built up since its creation in 1982 by means of several acquisitions: photography with a collection of over 500 prints (Diane Arbus, Henri Cartier-Bresson...), conceptual art (Joseph Kosuth, Roman Opalka) and the burlesque vein in the lineage of the Dada spirit, with works by artists today world-renowned (Jeff Koons). Between 1994 and 2005, the collection was enriched with works that attest to the great heterogeneity of artistic practices with video, cinema, sound and installation. The Frac Aquitaine now promotes the generalist character of its collection, which will soon be preserved and valued in a new building within the future Méca (House of creative economy and culture in Aquitaine).
