Founded in 1245 by Étienne de Lexington, abbot of Clairvaux, the Collège Saint-Bernard or Collège des Bernardins formed between the 13th and 15th centuries the elite of the monks of the Cistercian order. Although it became a National Property during the Revolution and served as a prison, warehouse and fire station until very recently, it has retained its Gothic nave with three bays on a cellar in the basement, as well as the staircase of the former sacristy (18th century). Purchased by the diocese of Paris, it was restored in 2004 by the chief architect of the Monuments historiques, Hervé Baptiste, and refurbished by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, to become a place of research and debate for the church and society. The Collège des Bernardins, a place where formation, reflection and creation meet, aims to bring together the inventive forces of the soul, mind and heart to place a unified gaze on the world, to seek meaning and to open ways of hope. The Collège des Bernardins is a spa
