Guided tours of the Outdoor School of Suresnes

Discover the outdoor school of Suresnes, built in 1935 on the slopes of Mont-Valérien, at the time when the first wine village turns into a small industrial town.
The school was intended to improve the health of fragile and pre-tuberculous children, mostly from the popular Suresne class, living in the garden city or in slums in the city center.
The teaching offered to students is a precursor and is inspired by the movement of new pedagogy, then in development thanks to Maria Montessori, Rudolf Steiner-Waldorf, Célestin Freinet…
The architects Eugène Beaudouin and Marcel Lods, with the help of Jean Prouvé for the frames, propose for this program a school resolutely avant-garde. A masterpiece of modern architecture, it is classified as a historical monument. These are the last guided tours that will be offered before closure for work on the site and its reopening in 2027. 6 tours offered per day, departure every 30 minutes from 14:30 and until 17:00.
