Free visit of the Abbey of Saint-Maur
The ruins of the Abbey, nearly 1,400 years of history to discover! Founded in the Merovingian era, the abbey of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés quickly became one of the most important in Île-de-France. Famous for its pilgrimage, it reached its peak in the late Middle Ages. But its secularization and the ruin of conventual buildings precipitated its decline from the seventeenth century. The site passed to different owners until the 20th century before becoming the largest municipal park built in the 1930s and 1980s. These Heritage Days are an opportunity to discover the history of these remains, enter the Rabelais Tower and enter the closed parts of the site. From the tour guide, you can go at your own pace and enjoy the different stages.
