This 12th century castle is located in the heart of the ancient city. Surrounded by a moat, it has retained its six round towers and two square doortowers. After many years of archaeological excavations, it has recently undergone a very interesting restoration. Excavations continue to be carried out regularly. It houses the Heritage Interpretation Centre and its new archaeological research base, a building of the 21st century.
