he castle of Rambouillet owes its fame to the rich and abundant forest in the heart of which it was built. An ancient medieval fortress, it is gradually transformed into a pleasure house and decorated with elegant decorations by its illustrious owners: the family of Angennes, the Toulouse-Penthièvre, Louis XVI, Napoleon I or our presidents of the Republic. The domain of Rambouillet also opens to the visit two exceptional monuments: the Dairy of the Queen Marie-Antoinette and the Cottage with shells. These two buildings were built in the 18th century in the heart of the 150 hectares of historic gardens, classified Remarkable Gardens.
