Guided tour and demonstration of the Workshop of the Chalcography of the Rmn-GP
Going behind the scenes of the Atelier de Chalcographie de la Rmn-GP, - workshop labeled Label France know-how of excellence and Label Entreprise du patrimoine vivant (EPV)-, it is to discover artisanal practices and the secrets of realization of cut-size printsfrom one of the largest collections in France.
Founded in 1797, the Chalcography of the Louvre is responsible for preserving and printing a collection of several thousand engraved brass. Once housed under the roofs of the Louvre Palace, the presses are now housed in the Rmn-GP art workshops in Saint-Denis. Visitors will be able to attend demonstrations of printing from the original plates and discover all the steps necessary for the realization of a print. As custodians of traditional know-how, the Atelier de Chalcographie is recognized as a conservatory of this art profession.
