In recent years the Russian Orthodox monastery of Our Lady of Kazan near Melun has undergone a real revival. Its church of exceptional architecture, decorated with frescoes painted by the famous iconograph monk Grégoire Kroug, was built last century by the archimandrite Euthyme (Vendt).
