Free visit, discovery of Father Jacques and botanical visit. From 2pm to 5.30pm: -Free visit of the Father Jacques Memorial and the garden of the convent. -Guided tour of the premises. At 2.30pm and 4pm screening of the documentary “by the Cross towards the Light” (52’).

The Convent of the Carmelites, occupies a former Hospital founded in 1662 by Anne of Austria, enlarged by Louis XIV, then Louis XVI. Formerly called "La Charité d'Avon" it was built on a plot containing a water mill. Louis XIV, at the request of Queen Anne of Austria, bought it and made a donation to Brother Saint-Jean de Dieu, to build a hospital, with the income from the mill to cover his expenses. The hospital experienced successive enlargements until the revolution, thanks in particular to the generosity of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette.
In 1792 the establishment fell into ruin and the Directory declared its dissolution in 1796\. In 1860 "La Charité d'Avon" was entrusted to the Redemptorists who made it a mission. When they were expelled, they left Charity, which returned to a convent in 1920 with the installation of the Carmelites.
