On the occasion of the JEP, the Russian church of Champagne-sur-Seine opens its doors from 2pm on Sunday 17 September. From 16h a concert will be offered: the Trio Nuovo: Chant Guitare saxophone accordion (Popular Spanish song, Brazil, Neapolitan) which will benefit from this place with exceptional accoustique.

Following the Bolshevik revolution of 1917, some immigrant families settled in Champagne-sur-Seine. It was easy for men to find a job, since the Schneider factory was recruiting workers. The integration of these new inhabitants takes place gradually, despite the obstacle of the language.
Eager to come together to share their culture and memories, members of the Russian community came together and founded the Russian Colony Association. Three years later, the project of building a church emerged.
Thanks to its elevated and unobstructed location, the chosen land is well suited for the construction of a church, and each family pays a sum for the purchase of materials and land. The men participated in the construction of the chapel, according to the projects of the architect Popandopoulos. Started on May 14, 1938, the work was quickly completed.
