Exhibition | Madeleine Riffaud, «Mon maquis, c'est Paris»
On the occasion of these 40th European Heritage Days, the National Book Center, in partnership with Dupuis Editions, wanted to present to you an exceptional destiny, that of Madeleine Riffaud, born on August 23, 1924 in the Somme, engaged in the Resistance against Nazism at the age of 16 and then war reporter, who testifies for the first time in graphic form of his fight against barbarism.
You will discover here a summary of Madeleine’s life and her commitments, her fight for freedom and against barbarism, the way she works with Jean-David Morvan and Dominique Bertail to create their series of comics, as well as his poetic work which impressed Paul Eluard so much from their meeting in 1944 and throughout their friendship. But for Madeleine, it’s never a question of getting in front of the stage. What she wants to transmit is “the spirit of Resistance”: to know how to say no, to oppose injustices, at any price, even that of one’s own life. And to keep reminding that what she has done, many others have done… and still do.
