Intervention d'Emmanuel Lozerand, chargé de mission « Histoire de l'Inalco », le 5 juin 2023 à l'auditorium du Pôle des langues et civilisations (Grégoire Maisonneuve / BULAC).

If the Langues O' were not always installed rue de Lille, this building plays a particular role in our history. In this lecture, we will recall the circumstances in which the school took possession of the premises in 1873, explain how the building was transformed on this occasion, and finally show how it allowed the development of our institution.
Conference by Emmanuel Lozerand, professor of universities and «History of the Inalco», proposed as part of the European Heritage Days of the Inalco.
From 3pm to 3.30pm in the Dumézil Auditorium. Free admission subject to availability.

The wings of the rue des Saints-Pères and of Lille are the result of the realization between 1886 and 1889 of the first phase of the great project imagined by Faure-Dujarric. The fourth and last wing, to the west, as well as the upper part of the pavilion of the library at 2 rue de Lille belong to the last campaign of works that was initiated to complete this ensemble in 1935 by the architect Paul Barrias.
This rich building has housed the Arabic, Turkish, Persian, Chinese and dozens of other languages. It saw the birth and growth of the Doctoral
