À propos du lieu

Château de Cirey
33 rue Émilie du châtelet, 52110 Cirey-sur-Blaise
  • Haute-Marne
  • Grand Est
Located in Haute-Marne, about 250 km from Paris, this unfinished Louis XIII castle was completed in the 18th century.
This building was strongly marked by the presence of Voltaire, who stayed there for 15 years from 1734 to 1749, invited by Gabrielle Émilie de Breteuil, Marquise du Châtelet, another brilliant spirit of the eighteenth century. The castle was restored and completed at Voltaire’s initiative.
What to see: the bedroom of the Marquise du Châtelet, the library, the dining room, the chapel, the small theatre and the kitchen.
The castle is labeled «House of the illustres».
