INRAP

With this lecture by Arnaud Rémy, archaeologist at Inrap, follow in the footsteps of the history of Joinville and its surroundings. Preventive archaeological operations are gradually reconstructing the human occupation of the territory, such as the excavation conducted in Thonnance-lès-Joinville in 2013 that uncovered the remains of the Iron Age and a Gallo-Roman farm. Two recent diagnoses conducted in Joinville, at the foot of the Castle called «from above» and near the Notre-Dame Church, document the origin of Joinville with the discovery of burials of the early Middle Ages. This conference will propose a local archaeological panorama that enriches the history of the territory.
