Exchanges with an archaeologist from Archeodunum
The archaeological study of the elevations of the Château de Vendôme and its integration into the restoration site.
Depending on the heritage value of the monuments, the DRAC, in particular the Regional Archaeology Service of the Centre-Val de Loire Region, may prescribe archaeological studies to accompany restoration work. The scope of the work planned on the castle of Vendôme was therefore a major event so that archaeologists could study the towers, curtains and the castle’s châtelet which were previously inaccessible. Archaeologists can thus collect all the information from the scaffolding and take advantage of the cleaning of the walls or of certain masonry dismantlings to read the monument in depth.
One of the site’s archaeologists will be present on Saturday to explain his involvement in the restoration project, his way of studying a building while exposing the first results especially those of the famous tower of Poitiers.
