Gonzague Saint Bris was born in Touraine, in the Royal City of Loches, and was raised in Clos Lucé d'Amboise, the last residence of Leonardo da Vinci. Writer, historian and journalist, pioneer of free radio, Prix Interallié, founding President of La Forêt des Livres (now the Writers at Gonzague Saint Bris), the child of Le Pays retired to write in his Chalet des Chasseurs at Chanceaux-près-Loches. He presented his house as follows: At the heart of a thousand hectares of forest in Touraine, the Chalet des Chasseurs is for me as much a typewriter as a house. Every time I slip the key into the lock, it’s like I’m dipping the pen into the inkwell. Immediately the perfume of the oak library intoxicates me, like an invitation to write. On the ground floor, in the dining room, the walls are stretched with green felt-billiard. Then one enters the library where the shelves plow under the weight of the volumes. In a row, the living room and its fireplace decorated with arms of France and England
