The church Saint-Maurice is located outside the walls which surrounded Crissay in the South of the city along the road leading to saint Epain. The current church was built on the ruins of a Romance church on the initiative of Denis de Montmorency, of his son Jacques 1st then of Jacques II Turpin de Crissé between 1410 in 1527\. Before this place sheltered most probably the chapel of an agricultural, Gallo-Roman villa, the owner of which would have become a convert to Christianity. Dates current construction therefore the XVth and XVIth centuries Built in style "Flamboyant Gothic", the nave consisted of a main vessel includes three spans bent by ogives, extended by a north shoulder of two spans, also bent by ogives, and extended by a chapel. The chorus(choir), less higher than the nave, is built on a squared plan and possesses a flat bedhead lighted(enlightened) by a bay(berry) in flashing remplage. In the South, the bell tower of square plan, backed up by foothills of angle, carries a stone arrow. A polygonal turret of staircase in screw allows the access to the belfry of the bell tower and to the attic of the church. It is accessible(approachable) since the inside of the church.
