Cathédrale Saint-Vincent

Built under the First Empire by Alexandre Jean-Baptiste Guy de Gisors, the new cathedral, in the Greek neoclassical style, was dedicated on August 24, 1816 to Saint Vincent - deacon and martyr - as well as to Saint Louis, king of France. The entire building is classified as a Historic Monument. The two towers and the forecourt were renovated in 2006 by the Town of Mâcon and earned the city the distinction of «heritage ribbons» in 2009\. This monument retains its rich original decoration (19th century). One can notice, among other marvels of art and architecture, a decoration in trompe-l'oeil by Bussière, and Le Christ en croix by Jacques-Louis David (1782) which was exhibited in Paris at the Petit Palais in 2017.
