Built in the Middle Ages in the Romanesque style and modified until the 18th century, this ancient cathedral of the bishops of Mâcon suffers from building defects from the beginning. Its fragility eventually led to its partial demolition in 1798. Only the two towers, the narthex and the first two bays of the nave remain today, as well as a beautiful tympanum with rare 11th century iconography that shows traces of polychrome. The building was selected by the Heritage Mission to represent the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region in the 2023 heritage lottery.
