In 1855, the count built a modern castle called «Château du Bois Reaux», a short distance from the old monastery for the marriage of his son Alexandre Louis with Cécile Dezas de la Roquette. The castle dominates the Loire Valley. It combines colour with architecture through the use of brick and stone. Two corbelled turrets frame, on the Loire side, the main building while the ends of the other facade are occupied by two large square towers.
