The Mill of Maupertuis

An ecomuseum of Flour milling at the heart of the old man Donzy in a mill of the 15th century

The old(former) mill with flour of Maupertuis dates the XVth century. He(It) is at the heart of the old man Donzy. Become Ecomuseum it is registered on the additional inventory of Historic monuments. Today even the Ferris wheel with troughs turns(shoots) and machines work. They invite us to discover by practice the gestures(movements) of the millers of former days, of the grain(bead) of wheat in the flour. Thematic exhibitions(exposures) on the role of the bread and flour milling accompany this play route(course) which will know how to surprise you. Room of projection. Practically all material(equipment) of the mill is of origin with between other one of the break rolls and sieves dating last decade of the XIXth century. Since 1990 he welcomes tourists, but also many classes attracted by quality and diversity of animations and workshops(studios) which their are proposed. We present our novelties regularly to the pedagogic advisers(councillors) of the Education of the sector, to collect their remarks and suggestions.
During this weekend, guided tours are planned(provided for) at 14 h, 15 h 30 and 16 h 45.
In programme manufacturing of draught(grinding) and tasting of bread during after noon(south).

The origins of the mill seem to date back to the end of the 14th century. However, we do not know the exact date of its construction.
At the beginning of the 20th century, it was a small flour mill that was constantly modernized until the early 1950s. The mill closed its doors definitively in 1961 with Paul Carroué, last miller of Maupertuis. When he died in 1987, the buildings went on sale...
