The Franciscans of the hermitage of the Cordelle de Vézelay invite you to a concert of medieval sacred songs on the occasion of the European Heritage Days.
Maud Gnidaz, soprano, will perform the repertoire of Hildegard von Bingen, Rhine abbess, a great figure of monastic medicine but also a great musician and composer of the 12th century.
A member of the Arts florissants, the ensemble of William Christie, Maud Gnidaz has performed in the largest international halls and festivals, in the choir and in solo performances.
Let yourself be enchanted by this sacred music in the setting all about the chapel of the Cordelle built in 1146.

Located on the north side of the hill of Vézelay, the hermitage of Cordelle shelters the chapel Sainte-Croix built by 1150 memorialising the predication of the second Crusade by Saint Bernard. It is in 1217 when two adherents of François d' Assise settle down to the hermitage of Cordelle (the Franciscans occupied the place up to French Revolution). Having sold as very National in 1791, Cordelle was transformed into stony career(quarry) at the beginning of the XIXth century. Entered in the heritage of the family of the counts of Chastellux from the start, these acquire(buy back) her(it) by 1840\. The old(former) convent found its religious vocation in 1949, when the Franciscans established a hermitage there. The brothers Franciscans always occupy the house.
