Guided tours at FRAC Auvergne
Guided tours of the exhibition Beauties gathering about forty works from the collection of the FRAC Auvergne. Acquired by the FRAC Auvergne collection between 1985 and 2023, the «beauties» gathered in this exhibition are born from the «whims» of those who created them. By caprice, we must mean the impulse, the fantasy, the generosity and the profusion, we must experience the thrill (capriccio in Italian) which they have gratified the artists who imagined them long before being given to us. Not a beauty but beauties, associating their opposites in an indemelable embrace. Harmony joins discordance, magnificence welcomes stridence, lustre accepts urticant folds and fascinating disintegration. The eddies of an assembly of carp on the surface of a pond framed by Rinko Kawauchi offer a beauty already threatened by the trembling of a fragile stained glass window; the daylight of Claire Chesnier’s inks comes down on the original peats at the same time as the muddy becoming of the world; the perfect composition of Gregory Crewdson reveals its harmony by the loneliness of the beings who find themselves frozen in a grace, despite them.
