Free visit of the Cloister of the Puy-en-Velay Cathedral + lower room of the Mâchicoulis building
Do you know the Cloister of the Cathedral of Le Puy, in the heart of the district of the canons in the Middle Ages? Northern part of the cathedral complex, this 12th century monument welcomes you all year round, and of course during these European Heritage Days on 16 and 17 September. This year, the Centre des Monuments Nationaux offers a self-guided tour around the colourful galleries in the Salle du Chapitre, then a descent into the large underground room of the Bâtiment des Mâchicoulis (exit under the porch of the cathedral). The entrance to the monument will be free and will be at 3 rue du Cloître (from 9.30 am to 11.45 am and from 2 pm to 4.30 pm), with a unique exit through the underground of the Bâtiment des Mâchicoulis, in the staircase of the cathedral. Attention: many steps, exit only from the bottom.
Due to the access and circulation capabilities in the cloister, the level of the Religious Art Treasure and its collection of embroidered ornaments will not be accessible during this weekend, we thank you for your understanding.
