Visit of the CC-IN2P3 computer museum
The IN2P3 Computer Science Museum opens its doors for the first time during the Heritage Days. Located within a national infrastructure dedicated to the data processing of the greatest experiments in physics, it testifies to the CNRS’s commitment to the conservation of its IT heritage. Come and visit one of the few initiatives of this type in France during a presentation of old materials and exhibition panels. You will discover how computer techniques dedicated to science have evolved over the years and how the needs of physicists have propelled the development of new technologies, now widely used. You will also learn about the challenges overcome by the CNRS during the pioneering period of microinformatics, or how the first French web server was born on the Doua campus in Villeurbanne. In addition to these exhibitions and in partnership with the G2L2 Corp association, a retrogaming hub will also be offered to (re)discover video games and arcades from the 1980s.
