In the heart of Riom, tourist hotspot of the department of Puy-de-Dôme and the Auvergne region, Country of art and history, renowned for its exceptional architecture of lava stone, the Regional Museum of Auvergne, labeled Museum of France, occupies an old mansion of the eighteenth century, renovated in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Through a collection of more than 4,000 objects, the museum presents rural Auvergne of the nineteenth century but is also a mirror of the territory and the inhabitants of today.
