The local archives of Saint-Etienne occupy a peculiar place(square) in cultural landscape stéphanois. They have as missions to collect, to list(classify), keep(preserve) and announce the archives of local services(departments), and also welcomes private archives (associations, architects, companies, photographers, etc.) interesting the history(story) of the city.
Beyond these administrative and patrimonial missions, archives answer public-spirited stakes. Through exhibitions(exposures), actions(shares) of collection of report(memory) and of support for initiatives in districts, they contribute to the narrative of a common history(story).
